Carmel International Film Festival- Finalist!
I am a producer of HELP YOURSELF! a comedy webseries about three women. Think 1950s instructional video- with a millennial spin. We've produced our first season, and are pitching to seek funding for Season 2.
Recently, we got the chance to do our first real pitch- in contest front of a panel of industry judges, at the Carmel International Film Festival in beautiful Carmel, CA. We worked extremely hard on our pitch-- and it paid off- we made it though to the final round!
In the finals, we recieved wonderful feedback from Variety, Honest Engine Films, Sander/Moss Productions, and many others. Our series was called "very clever" "highly original" and they said, "your show's got legs!"
However, there were some truly amazing pitches out there, from Eric Karkheck's African Pirate Epic feature, to Nemanja Colovic's Animated Series "Oaksterdum", and Owen Thomas's project on the CIA's use of LSD...to name a few.
But- we didn't win the top prize in the finals, which was hard. Very hard. Because we really want to pay our cast and crew for Season 2.
But then, we remembered why we make comedy... to have fun! So we celebrated on the beach... with our new friends, of course. Here's a photo from Carmel International Film Festival afterparty.
